I just replaced a few front sights with hiviz litewaves. Overall I'm happy with it and it's a big improvement over stock sights. Not as bright as true f/o's but the price point is hard to beat.

    Here's a pic of my p2000

Fiber Optic sights are great OUTDOORS, where there is a light source to illuminate them. When I shoot indoor ranges without an overhead light, the fiber optics aren't bright enough, for me. I'm old, I got that part and, I install F/O sights on all of my guns that I shoot frequently.

I really want to find some low profile fiber/tritium combo sights with a fully adjustable rear.

I've heard somewhere on the net that HiViz for glocks shoot about 5 inches low at 25 yards.

I've used TruGlo on my p220, and they seemed maybe 3 inches low at 25 yards. I might have flinched a couple times but I haven't shot my p220 in a while and I don't quite remember for sure.

Fiber optic sights work best outdoors for two main reasons 1. Clear sky sunlight is about 10X brighter than average indoor lighting - your eyes and brain adjust so that you don't realize it's 10X brighter 2. the fluorescent dye in the fiber optics actually absorbs sine UV light out of the sky and converts it to visible light in the fiber, boosting a wavelength your eye can see. Not much UV light indoors available to do this part. And then the fiber acts as a light pipe transferring and concentrating the light and the ends. Longer fiber = bigger collector.

Update, I just put on a hi viz front sight, it's a nice unit, but I'm worried about lighting. I'll try it at a local indoor. Almost all the SoCal ranges I shoot handgun at are indoor. Bummer.

And perversely, I saw a Burris FF3 go up on here from a great local calgunner at a great price, so I have a plan b. I've wanted to try a red dot, now I will get my chance.

                That's the tradeoff.

Daylight, my TruGlo pop like LED's.
Darkness, the tritium glows more brightly than any of the 3 Trijicon sets I've had.
"Normal" indoor lighting? Meh... I can see the dots, but I'm more leveling the top than lining up the dots, like factory revolver or 1911 combat sights.

I put a high vis fiber optic on my field shotgun. I love it.

I have a set of truglow TFXs on my G26 and love them. Bright in all conditions. My old Sig 226 Equinox had a fiber optic front sight that was awesome as well. Shooting both indoors in a dimly lit range or outdoors in bright sunlight, excellent sight picture and illumination.
