I think that it might also siphon some of the fence sitters that normally vote democrat, but can't justify voting for a liar or a socialist. Thereby sucking possible votes away from our side.

I think he's doing this because it's starting to look like Bernie may get the nomination. He knows he won't win as an independent but it would split the liberal vote and let Trump win.

He's planning to decide for sure whether he is running by sometime in March. I am guessing that's to see how the primaries go.
