AR-15 Build having a problem (any ideas??)

I built an AR-15 from a box of parts (purchased lower receiver from the local gun shop [not and 80% lower it was a stripped stag arms lower] and then a kit that was everything else) and I took it to the range after running snap caps thru it verifying it cycled the snap caps properly. and well it loads the ammunition properly - safety was off (yes I was asked that one already) - and well when I pulled the trigger I hear a click - but nothing else - I manually cycled that round out and chambered a new round and tried again and again nothing. I picked up the ejected rounds and there is a little divot on the primer but was not enough to make it fire. From what I looked up looks like the divot is probably from the free floating of the firing pin and from when the round is chambered nothing more (I could be wrong I honestly don't know - First build and First AR-15) if anyone has any words of wisdom and possible ideas of what is wrong or what could cause this it would be greatly appreciated.Something is just not right and I can't put my finger on it. I have taken the BCG apart several times and it looks like it was right I took the whole hammer and trigger group apart and I just well I don't see the problem I know it is there somewhere but cant put my finger on it At this rate I am at a loss right now I got an expensive wall hanger and not too happy about that. Will keep trying to figure it out but well may wind up going to a gunsmith for the repair even tho I really want to be able to figure it out and do it myself and learn from the build but I am out of ideas.

Are you positive the hammer spring is oriented properly?

2nd vote. Hammer spring not installed correctly.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

lightly dented ammo! OP, post a pic looking down into the lower. Another backward spring vote, easy fix.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!
