Anonymous Alcohol and Guns

I am just curious... How often do you hear stories of either :
- someone coming in drunk to a range and causing harm to himself or other people due to it?
- people out shooting on BLM or NF that consume alcohol while shooting and hurting someone else or themselves due to the alcohol consumption?

Serious question. I haven't seen any and I am almost to the point where I feel like this topic is a non issue altogether.

So yes, I've been involved in multiple shooting injuries and accidents as well had my vehicle stolen, burglarized and profiled by law enforcement.

I also wear 5.11 pants, shoot steel core, think featureless looks retarded, do not have an NRA membership, have no visible abs and like Glocks over 1911s

Serious question. I haven't seen any and I am almost to the point where I feel like this topic is a non issue altogether.

The first time I saw someone affected by drinking with guns was when I saw several of my dads friends drinking around the camp fire one evening. I can't remember all the particulars but the short story was one guy shot while the other guy was placing beer cans as targets. The guy putting out the cans almost got shot in the head. The bullet came so close that it ripped open his forehead. I was maybe 5 or 6 at the time and I remember thinking the guy was going to die. My dad swore me to secrecy so my mom wouldn't kill him.

The second major issue I had was when I used to hunt with my father and his friends. They drank a lot while I drove doing a spot and stalk for some pigs. My dads friend was climbing out from the back seat with his loaded 30/30 in hand. I was holding the door open for him and he had a negligent discharge while drunkenly climbing out. It knocked my boonie cap right off my head and put a bullet hole/tear across the brim. I ripped the rifle from his hands and went to punch him but one of my dads other friends grabbed me. It was the last time I ever hunted with my dad and his friends. This was just one of many scary issues I had while hunting with those guys.

My third situation was when I was out with friends in the woods shooting and riding ATV's. My best friend and his buddies started drinking and than the guns came out. I decided to try to go to bed early. When I woke up the next morning and tried to start my Honda odyssey FL350 and it sounded funny and wouldn't start. I hopped out and noticed fluid on the ground. Than I saw the large bullet hole dead center or my engine. Of course nobody knew what happened and nobody wanted to take any responsibility. Everybody decided to point the finger at everyone else.

I refuse to hunt or shoot with people that feel the need to drink while handling guns now. If the booze come out I leave. That simple.

So now you can say that you in fact have heard a first hand account of someone being hurt, someone almost killed and several thousand dollars worth of damage caused by people drinking and shooting.


My vote is No Regulation - I choose not to drink
