Best value steel targets?

I get mine from Shooting Targets 7. I just got 3 of the Isis targets and the stencil...great fun. When you order get the mounting chain kits. If you mount them with the chains they take a real beating. I was blasting on of my Isis target @ 60 yards with an M1 and no damage. I get sawhorse brackets and make my own stands. You do not have to be crazy to hang out with me. I'll train you! -
AR500 targets. They are local in Upland.
And frequents this board.Visit www.npfreedom.com for discounted firearm parts and accessoriesComment

Go to IMS, or industrial metal supplies in Clairemont mesa. They have a precut ar500 target section. Really cheap too.Welcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

thanks for the quick responses guys. and one more question: is ar500 steel all created equal? or do i loose lengevity when i go cheap.Comment
-
Ar500 should be equal, but some vendors lie. Or at least have lied in the past. I've shot my 3/8 from IMS with green tip and it hardly made a markWelcome to OT, where hypocrisy is King, outrage is Queen and the Kingdom is on the shores of the Denial River.

Heard a rumor that cop car engine blocks are made from AR500, but I don't get cops cruisin' my 'hood enough to ask them up close and personal.Comment

Got mine from them too and been very happy with them.So far they have taken the 300 mag at 200-300 yards and .223 as close as 60 with no denting.I hang them on chains on a stand.
They ran specials when i picked mine up too so they were cheap on price.Comment

I bought IPSC target kit from http://www.thetargetman.com/. Really happy with it, just buy the angle iron at your local metal yard instead of Home Depot or Lowes. Also, I've been using Shepard's hooks for hanging plants to hang 8" AR500 3/8 gongs that I bought off Amazon.Comment

1/4" will stand up to heavy use with 9mm, but based on my experience for larger caliber handgun or, of course, rifle go with 3/8". A few of our 8" round 1/4" plates cracked at the carriage bolt when we started using them for informal matches with larger caliber handguns.
Gongs won't experience this problem, but your application will want 3/8" in any event; I'm sure that's what any of the vendors will tell you.Comment
