    School me on IR lasers

So I've been interested in them for a while but I haven't really seem them discussed on here. so my questions are do you own one and what do you have? Any recommendations? I'm currently looking at the DBAL models but the battery life on then seem terrible. What are your thoughts?

what is the purpose of use?
    Handguns?
    Rifles?
What type of NVG will you run?
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
    (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Im looking at the dbal i2. This will be mounted to my AR. The mention of pistols is a possibility those seem to be more reasonably priced.

        +1 on purpose.

Do you have access to private land?
        Do you need an illuminator?
        I assume civilian legal.
Do you have $5000 to blow?

Not much to school you on. Works just light a visable laser but you need nods to see the beam.

I have the DBAL i2, have had it for two years now, the only issue I've had with it so far is the lens cover for the IR laser is starting to dry rot, no big deal really. I have found that if you switch the lever on the back to off the battery will stay good for pretty much ever, but if you leave it at any other setting then the battery will die within a month or two even if you're not using it.
