    FTF HK usp 40.......

I just bought a HK usp 40 from a friend of mine and I was able to take her to the range before purchase...I fired 50 rounds through her and 5 rounds out of the 50 ftf.....I believe it may be due to a light strike or maybe due to the condition of the gun.....it wasn't exactly kept the cleanest by the previous owner......I was using Aguila, 180gr.

I had my G23 with me and fired off those 5 rounds without problems.....I also had used Aguila with my G23 before without a hitch.....

Anyone else have a problem with this type of ammo or is HK finicky.....or is my suspicions correct and a thorough cleaning will do......

I don't want to start a war of words over which gun is better......to each his own and to be honest I really like both of them!.......

Never having shot Aguila ammo, but thousands of Winchester SXT, WWB, CCI and reloads without a single FTF through four different HKs, my first guess is to clean it.

The reason why "24" switched to HK during hiatus a couple years ago was that the prop team tested a number of pistols for the lead character "Jack Bauer" (Kiefer Sutherland). They chose HK USPc because "it ate whatever they fed it." I'd personally agree with that statement.

Clean it. Field strip and clean it thoroughly. Should be enough. Nothing stops these USPs. Seriously.

HK is so far the only guns I own that eats anything and everything you feed it. Although I have never used Aguila.

Hrmm, clean it, but even then it shouldn't matter as much if it is clean or not. It is either REALLY gummed up, or something is wrong with it. I have a USP Comp .45 and I have never had any problems with it other than the one and only time I shot a few rounds of Wolf ammo through it, just to see how crappy it was, and sure enough the casing failed to extract. That was the only time I ever had a problem, and I usually shoot a hundred or hundred and fifty plus rounds out of it whenever I go to the range.

Buying a gun new or used, field strip and clean before shoot. Especially used, you want the seller to strip it or let you strip it for inspection.

Maybe he used a grease that wasn't meant for heat, or it's mixed with dirt. I would imagine it would have to be extremely dirty for it to have a FTF, otherwise it's something out of spec or broken. Even the best guns have issues once in a while. Clean it really well, lube it up, and have at it.
