    About RIA 1911 Tactical

I have an opportunity to buy a RIA 1911 Tactical, basically new with only 50 rounds down range for $500 but without a mag. It is also upgraded with Dawson precision fiber optic sights (supposedly a $70 upgrade), which I probably would have done anyway.

I've never owned a 1911 and I've only owned 1 other handgun before (CZ 82) and I wanted to get another automatic. I like the 1911 because it has a pretty slender grip since I have smaller hands and it's just cool.

I wouldn't be shooting it that much so ammo cost isn't to much of a consideration. I'd have it mostly for fun and I'd also have it for home defense.

It retails at Turner's for $579. I wanted to get some opinions on if this was a good deal. I know I'd basically be paying about $30 extra dollars to do a transfer and all other fees would be the same. I am almost positive I wouldn't have to pay sales tax so I'm guessing I'm saving about $100 but without any mags...

Decent mags (Wilson 47D / Chip McCormicks) will run around $30 ea.....don't remember if the RIA's came with one mag or two...

That said...I'd say it's a decent deal. Certainly not a rip off. Dawson Sights are awesome.....But $70 won't buy front and rear....I'd guess double that. If it's got them both....then it's a better deal.

Also, I was thinking of being able to mount a light on it, will that be possible without a rail on it?

Good deal, good gun. They only come with 1 mag so it no biggie, just buy a few. Forget the weapon light, just get a handheld.
