    Transporting firearm

This is my first thread. I am getting ready to buy my first handgun and have a question. I know about transporting in the car to the range but let's say afterwards I go to my fathers house and have a few beers and don't feel like driving home. He live about a mile from me. Could I leave the ammo in the trunk of my car but put the firearm in the locked case in a backpack and walk home. Or would I be breaking a law.
    Thanks
    Gary

Leave the gun and ammo at your dad's house and come back to get it when you are sober!

Take it home first and then have some beers. It's only a mile.

At least you seem responsible and thinking ahead.

At least you are taking the gun out of the car, too many are stolen when the car is stolen or broken into.
