    Quick legal/registration question

I have a "friend" that was given a .22LR 9 shot revolver New England Firearms R92 back in 2002. At the time my "friend" wasn't into or too knowledgable about guns, so it sat in a box in storage for the last 13 years. My "friend" just thought nothing more of it other than like a starter pistol or even a pellet gun, my other friends would call it a pee shooter and make fun of it. Fast forward to 2016 and the anti-Constitutional nuts would almost make it seem as if my "friend" is now some sort of criminal. The history of the .22 isn't a mystery. It was from the estate of a WWII veteran who passed away in 2002, whos caretaker was his nephew (45 year old guy that wasn't into guns), who in turn passed it along to my "friend." Now the original owner is obviously deceased, the now 58 year old nephew, last my "friend" heard moved to Vegas in 2007 and is damn near impossible to track down, hasn't been found online or Facebook. Now this month my "friend" has gone through the entire legal CA process for getting a handgun, passed the background, FSC, etc... So the question: Is there now a COA to take to legally have the .22 put in my "friends" name or however he process would work? My "friend" has no criminal record, never been in trouble and would hate to ever end up losing his Constitutional rights because of what ALREADY could be considered an "infringement.".......damn liberals. Thank you guys in advance! Everybody on here has been super cool since I joined a few weeks ago! The entire community is very friendly too each other, like how our country SHOULD be. ....and they call us "nuts!?"
