    Why not imitate the anti's

Since it seems that the anti gun agenda has no problem lying and distorting reality I sometimes wonder why we don't do the same. Why cant we make up "facts" like they do?? I.E "95% of liberals don't support gun control", or "86% of democrats believe gun safety should be taught in schools". They seem to have figured out to go after emotions and figure out the truth later, why don't some of us mirror that approach. ( I know we shouldn't and its probably not in our best interest but dammit man sometimes I get frustrated)

In all fairness, I've heard some gun advocates spew all kinds of BS. Everytime they do, it hurts the rest of us.

We don't imitate that approach because we rise above it. We have a greater responsibility to view arguments objectively and make decisions with logic and rationality. We do not fall victim to irrational emotion as many of our fellow countrymen do - unfortunately. We must remain composed, truthful, and maintain our integrity - no matter how insanely frustrating it can be. Never stoop...

I pride myself for my logical mind and my ability to reason my way through life. Its this ability that I believe has lead all of us down the path of gun advocacy.

Just remember the words of someone much wiser than me: "Arguing with a fool proves there are two."

I agree 100% , however, one thing I will admit to even in my own business marketing is that it's all about appealing to emotion now. They seem to understand that better than we do.

Agreed. Very good point. We need better marketing. We have plenty of "ammo" we could be using to appeal to people's emotions and make them see the light.

This is why I love Trump! You call him anti-anything, he calls you a liar and says I love them. He is pro gun. Pro God. Anti establishment, etc. . . All good stuff.

I know people think he may not be genuine, I will take that risk that he is. . . .mostly because he absolutely ticks off the most vile crazies I cannot stand. Sometimes to fight a crazy, you have to act crazy back....

If you think it does not happen on both sides you are fooling yourself.

Especially when it comes to stat analysis. At best you get half truths
or figures presented out of context.

IMO it is rather unfortunate result of politics, and not actually out of honest concerns to promote safety or preservation of rights.

We don't have to skew the facts. The facts are on our side. In Calif with the most gun regulation, the murder rate from guns is higher than TX. A state with more guns and less laws. This is FBI 2013 data. There is plenty more positive data to support our side. The facts and the truth will win in the long run!
We do need better marketing and call out the Anti's when they spew fud.

And he doesn't get all hung up on telling "the truth" or let things like "the facts" get in the way of his arguments.

                  What a perfect candidate...

I use the same emotional ploys against them as best I can without distorting the facts. I try to work them it in to every argument...I ask them why they refuse to help keep society safe or "if it saves just one child, isn't it worth it?"When I've taken away their ability to appeal to emotion I deploy the facts. The conversation usually ends with them calling me an "ammosexual" so I ask them not to be "ammophobic" and to put their bigotry aside. I usually invite them to go shooting if they have not acted like raving lunatics.

Never play the statistics game in an argument unless they are overwhelming in your favor (and in gun control it's not). Clarity and understanding of BOTH sides followed by solutions do. The CNN town hall was pretty good in that respect, but it was pointless as Obama didn't have a debate opponent.

I remember seeing a video. I think it was in Santa Cruz and some cop was needlessly beating on family member, it is Santa Cruz so the family was white. You hear in the background, "Call the cops!" And then another, "What we do? He is the police." Hahahah.

Seriously, that is my number one reason against all gun control. Antis have said to me, you cannot stop them from getting even if you are heavily armed. . . I said you are right, but I go down fighting and others follow that cue, think an average cop wants to risk their life like that each time?!

And that move "V for Vendetta". Where the citizens overthrow the government? A bunch of unarmed people wear Guy Fawkes mask overthrow a government? In reality, in a totalitarian regime the crowd would never get that big. Water cannons would be used at first and if continued, machine gun fire.

Because Anti's buy their own "Fact" checkers. Liberals don't care how much an Anti or a Liberal lies as long as the lies hurt a conservative, but let a conservative get one fact wrong and CNN will Air it for months.
