    Is this to close?

I bought new dehumidifier rod for my safe. Was wondering since I have a built door organizer and the pockets sit deep inside the safe once door is shut if it's okay to put my rod here or not. It's close to my ammo but the rod doesn't get so hot that I can't pick it up bare handed:

That's almost exactly where mine is. Been over a year and no problems.

Wow... I remember the days when I had room to store ammo in the safe

What's the old saying about buying a safe? Always buy it bigger than you think you need because you'll grow into it. So I went big.

You shouldn't store ammo in your safe. If there's a fire you have effectively created a bomb.

Okay what do you purpose? Leave them outside? I don't get it. If there is a fire inside the house whether the ammo is in the safe or not doesn't it have the same affect? I'm not being a smart *** just want to know. I debated to put ammo in the safe or not for quite some time. I'd like to really know.

Store them anywhere else. I use gun cabinets that I drilled holes in to relieve pressure. And ammo doesn't explode unless it's contained in tight box in a fire, the buildup of pressure in your safe is what would cause an explosion.

Okay I will look into investing in a gun cabinet just for ammo. Thank you.

You can get a Stack-On for around $100. Ammo cans stack nicely inside of them.

Yeah I think I'll do that. Like a 14 gun cabinet should be enough for ammo for me.

Just be sure to drill some relief holes in the sides. A couple inch wide ones on each side should be plenty.
