    Crossroad gun show this weekend

The crossroad gunshow is in coast Mesa this weekend and I'm considering going the first time. Does anyone know if venders will be selling powder and components at this show.

Miwall has several booths throughout the show and they sell powder and components. There's other vendors as well selling reloading components. I plan on going to the show too.

Miwall will have some powder and primers but you will have to decide if pricing is worth it. You will pay tax and show admission and parking if you don't want to walk farther. You will save hazmat fees and shipping. Also what is your time worth? Also they may not have what you want or sell out before you get to it. You may have to wait in line a while.

I personally do not like Miwall or do much business with them. You can also have fun drinking $14 cups of beer and seeing all the show has to offer like Beanie Babies, beef jerky, beads and BO. Yes this subject has been discussed many times.

Check out some past threads about Crossroads sbows.

They almost always are, you'll have 1 or 2 vendors outside in the quad area selling powder. Check to see what the powder will run you at Midway and other places first. Usually the powder at the Costa Mesa show will be more expensive but there's no hazardous freight charge so it's still cheaper. If it makes sense, grab it! I buy projectiles all the time there. Great prices for sure!

Not sure about this particular show. However, in my experience, it varies. Some vendors price gouge, while others sell for "normal" price. Good luck getting any from the latter.

Last year I bought .22 Federal bulk packs for $45 each at this show.

If you have nothing better to do, it's good to go. Just go to look, don't expect anything. Bring cash, sometimes something pops up that is a good buy! Example: I was at a recent show and had to pass on a Colt 1911 70 series that would have been a PPT. The guy would only take cash (totally acceptable) but I didn't have enough.

I always bring 3-4k to the show you never know. Once I came with $1600ish and I left with $2. I do own guns in 50+ different chamberings and need parts and mags for a lot of obscure guns that is why shows make sense for me but not for most people. But by no means is the show awash in bargain guns and ammo.

The occasional deal does pop up though. How much was this Colt? I learned my lesson long ago about having cash always ready. I also would never take anything but cash for a PPT deal. Treat the show like going to a movie or a sporting event and don't expect much else.

Have you bought a ticket for a movie lately? I go to the show if I am in town and always find something I don't need. If you want to save a couple $$ print the show coupon at home and park in the swap meet area for free. The last time I was there Miwall's had CCI#41 primers for $20/K and I found a few treasures digging around the piles of crap people bring in.

Like a maple stock for a Stevens 20g?

Don't go to the gun show expecting to shop and you might have a good time walking down narrow isles, bumping into everyone wearing all their musty tactical clothes that they forgot in the washing machine for 2 days because they were too busy over cleaning all their guns from the last trip to some public range where they shot bimetal ammo and almost started a fire. And half the people have some HUGE molle'd out made in china backpack that they bump into everyone as they swing around looking through a 10-45x52mm chicom scope with a 1" tube trying to find enough light to even see through it.

Then moving a foot a minute as you try to squeeze past the Miwall booth - you'd think Chris Costa was laying on the table with a thumb over bore grip. Oh and make sure you don't step on anyones J's, especially the guy who drove up in matte black import with "illest" on the back window, diagonally.

If you manage to make it past Miwall, follow the sound of the tasers. On that isle you will probably also find the guy and his wife selling CCW vests, then American Indian jewelry, cat scratchers and Nazi paraphernalia.

There is the "illest" guy again trying to haggle on an FDE Magpul UBR with the young hispanic boy that you see at more than one booth each show.

Don't forget the guy lugging around that gold-plated AK for sale, or the over-priced 1911 booth, or the one booth which actually has interesting old guns (till you notice all of them are tagged 'not for sale' lol).

Yes, the main booth in the center will have lots of ammo, powder, and other components. Park over by the swap meet and the centennial farm for free and walk to the gun show. It is a shorter walk than the paid parking.
Don't let people talk you out of going, it is still a decent show. Go for yourself and make your own opinion.
