    Need scoping advice

It has come to my attention as of late (by late, I mean reading about the Tactical .22 match in Pala) that I am lacking a good scoped .22 rifle, even more a good scope. I have a 6x steel Weaver scope on my 640KD Chuckster but I feel that my Mossberg 44US might benefit from a good set of glass.

My question is, who makes a good scope for this rifle? Do I go period correct or modern? Eye relief? Magnification?

Maybe I will just upgrade my friend's Hi Standard A-105 Sport King with a good scope and call it a day...

The Mossberg 44US doesn't have any provision for mounting a scope. I have one that I tapped and drilled for a Weaver mount a long time ago. I have noticed that they are bringing a lot more than I paid for mine, I would hesitate altering one now. I also changed my trigger and set the barrel back with a tighter chamber, it really shoots. You'll have a tough decision.

Just an aside , the Chuckster was my 1st "it's not a 22lr" rifle about 40 years ago & it's nice to see them still floating around.

If you can mount a scope on the 44 I'd go with an older steel Weaver, 10X with adjustable objective - should be able to find them at a gun show for about $100.00.
