Bass Pro Shops does an 11 day wait period. I do not blame them at all! California government and their jackboot enforcers are heartless godless creatures representative of a toxic regime.

          ????

Shops have actually been chastised by the DOJ for the 11 day wait.

You can trust cops, ATF, and any other government agency. . . I do not blame them as I would much rather be chastised than release a gun 1 second earlier and risk what I am sure are much harsher penalties than a chastisement.

Bottom line, at least for me, California government is corrupt, two faced and full of crony capitalism. . . .

I have bought 2 guns at Big 5 over the last few years and I was able to pick up both at 1 minute past the 240 hour mark. One of them was picked up last week.

                It simply can't happen.
The DROS software will not allow the release form to be printed prior to the correct pickup date/time AND the DOJ has either listed the background check as "Okay to release" or "Undetermined".
Some shops will not release on "undetermined" though it is legal for them to do so.

The reason some stores give a flat 11 days is that the buyer can come in any time on the 11th day and pick up their gun.
If they say 10 days, then run the risk of someone coming in when the store opens, or on their lunch break, for a gun that can't be released until 4pm.

They would rather "play it safe" in that respect than have to tell a customer that they need to leave and come back later. It is for no other reason than to preclude arguments with customers, particularly with some less-educated customers thinking that "10 days" means "10 days" rather than "240 hours"
