i live in tulare, ca... i contacted the police dept on the open carry... boy the officer who answered my call, wasnt too happy with that idea... he told me that every time i took a step i would have a gun in my ear and they would put me in a embarrasing position... then he proseeded to ask my birth date, i gave it to him... then i got his name and badge number... i felt like he was being hostile to me, just because i wanted to excersize my rights... i think that going down to the station and havi a word with his captain mite help, but worried that i would just make myself a huge target...Last edited by augusto faria; 12-23-2008, 12:12 AM.Comment

dont be afraid of the LEOs if its in the law then they cant do anything but detain you to run your gun then let you go. as far as i know. i'd talk to them and make sure they got the memo. why did you call and ask them anything anyway?Comment

No, not at all.
In the best situation, your call will cause them to research the law and come to the correct conclusion.
Unfortunately, there are some officers who are not trained to know that unloaded open carry is legal. If that were the case here, you might get a call back giving you incorrect information.
I suppose it's possible that a city might have some more restrictive areas for carry - one can expect that city buildings might be closed to carry, for example - but I'm not aware of any cities that have tried anything broader in scope; that is to say, local ordinances seem to be unlikely, so there is probably little for you to learn in that regard.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment
