    Sig Sauer

I'm so irritated with Sig Sauer. Before I finish typing the story up in notepad and decide whether I should post it.. anyone here have any experience with Sig Sauer warranty/factory service?

Any ballpark of how long it should take something to get done?

Had a gouge on my slide when I picked up my piece and sent it in to be checked/refinished. Seems like they're not in too big of a hurry, but from what i've read Sig factory usually has a pretty quick turnaround.

I've had a few minor issues where guns had to go back, and they were always very good about it. In fact, when things were clearly manufacturing problems, they'd make it right by tossing in something free like night sights, an accessory, etc.

Timing is everything with them, though. If you get them during the holidays or around SHOT show, expect delays...

I sent many of mine to them and they all came back within acceptable time frame or sooner.... and yes, sometimes timing is everything.

I have had excellent service from SiG Sauer. Be advised that they do the refinishing of slides (never frames) in batches and you r gun may b e in a cue waiting for enough slides to do a run.

What was your expectation? how long has it been? You didn't provide ANY specifics.

I've had good service from Sig as well. Just remember... your case is a warranty repair which means it goes to the back of the line. Car dealers are the same way. It's not just Sig.

          How long have you waited?

The guy i've been in contact with told me around Christmas it would be looked at shortly and he's email me. But they've had it since the second week in December. Now it's coming up on a month and i'm thinking.. Maybe they should've at least looked at it. I see some posts on forums where they've had their gun back in a couple weeks. I didn't factor in the holidays and I didn't realize they refinished in batches so my slide could be waiting around.

It's brand new, I haven't even fired a shot though it. I wanted it out and back ASAP.

Agreed - most places shut down between Christmas and New Year's, and the week after everyone comes back is super non-productive.

I'm sure they'll end up making it right for you. Like I mentioned above, they have a history of doing "nice" things unexpectedly. I had a gun that was doing weird crap with the decocker (required a ton of effort for it to work), and they sent it back to me in perfect working order with sweet night sights (and gave me my original sights, too). Other times they sent me a couple of free magazines or included a gun bag.

Just don't get too mad with them - but let them know that you're bummed to have to wait so long. If you're nice, and let them know that you're a bit unhappy with the experience, they generally come through (not always, but a lot of times).

I'm sure my contact knows i'm anxious. When I requested an update he says he'd email me when he heard something. I took that as "quit asking". LOL.

Was it there when you first started paperwork? If not, sounds like you should be hassling the shop you got it from.
If it was there at first, you shouldn't have bought it if that's that big a deal to you.

Well, if you do factor in the holidays, they've really only spent a couple of weeks with your gun.

Turnaround for refinishing is highly variable due to batching. If no one sends in a slide that needs to be refinished...because most folks don't send stuff during the holidays...you could be waiting a while.

Bear in mind that they can't just add your slide to the regular production line refinishing. It has to go in with a repair batch so they can keep track of it
