    Bead Blasting Prices

I am looking for a place in the Bay Area that will bead blast my Ruger GP100. Do you guys know any decent places with reasonable prices. I have searched the forums and haven't had much luck. Everything is down south it seems.

I've been here for a few occasions, most recently to bead blast my Fred Bear Instinct compound bow to the bare metal. He charged me $40 for the job. In the past, I've also had him bead blast a Ruger 10/22 receiver and related parts, and also a Ruger Single Six. It's best if you disassemble everything prior so the bead blasting is even everywhere and you know exactly what you want to be blasted. The owner is a nice guy and prices are very fair. Just bring it in and see what he quotes you. Price should be about $40-50 for a small job. He actually let me blast my own parts once awhile back...it was pretty fun and relaxing to me. If I could have a beadblaster in my home, I would, but I only live in a condo.

How does he block of the barrel, the cylinder holes, and things like that. I probably want the barrel, frame, cylinder, and trigger gaurd done with the bead blast finish. Does he also have the ability to debur knicks on theh gun?

You might look at doing it yourself

He'll block off the holes or other areas with tape or small rubber pieces.

How bad and deep are the burrs? The bead blasting really helps to smooth and even out the surface to a nice matte finish.

I can do it for walk-in jobs in the north bay if you don't want to send your gun out.

I'll put the pics up as soon as I pick up the gun after DROS which will be right before New Years. This will be a bedside gun so even if I can file the nicks and burrs down a bit and then have the gun blasted I would be happy. I have other safe queen guns but this will be shot at every range visit and will be abused, but right now it does have a wear and use marks on the gun.

does that blaster come with it's own compressor. If it does then i'm all over that. Should i be concerned about damaging the gun if I blast it myself. I have blasted in the past and it's pretty self explanitory, but still I don't want to mess up the mechanical reliablity of the revolver.

Get a piece of material the same that you will be blasting and practice on it - play with the pressure and spray distance to get the finish that you desire.
