I just saw a news report. The talking head said that after he took the weapon and shot his dad, who had killed three people, they "considered him disarmed", whatever that means.

Stop a shooting rampage, arrested for murder.

Need more info, but it doesn't sound good for the son.

My initial thought on reading the story was: if the son disarmed the dad, and the dad is no longer posing a threat, there's no justification to shoot.

But none of us were there, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

if you have the gun and the other person has not given up.....

what's to stop him from trying to take it [back] and kill you? The gun. That's what.

We need to see how this plays out.

I'd be careful not to subscribe to the logic that simply because the suspect no longer possesses one of his weapons, that he is no longer a threat.

You also need to consider the suspect's intent and remaining capabilities.

Is it possible the son killed them all and came up w the I disarmed dad story as a cover?

That's most likely the theory behind the arrest. But seriously, L.A. is like the Twilight Zone.
