diffs between pistol-grip and regular long gun ergometrics?

Seems all the serious hunting rifles, and competition shotguns are regular old style.

While all newer military semi-auto and full auto are pistol grip, which puts the axis bore higher, which I'd think would be more of an issue in rapid fire.

There are also guns and shooters that do just fine at long range precision with pistol grip rifles.

Trying both they both seem fine, more or less, but I'm no expert.

What about hunting rifles that have a much more vertical almost pistol type grip on regular stock?

Beyond aesthetics, when would one be definitely the "right one" vs the other?

    To each their own.
"I PERSONALLY" want the scope mounted as close to the bore as possible which cannot be done on an AR type rifle. Not that one cannot be made to shoot. I have both types and for hunting I do not us the pistol grip or even thumbhole stocks. But that is just me and if you want something different feel free to do so.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
