    Loopholes in background checks??

People are buying more guns, but they get a dig in about loopholes that circumvent the need for a background checks? What are they referring to??

Other states probably. Like if you want to sell a gun to your next door neighbor, you can do it directly. It's not a loophole, it's just not required.

    It doesn't affect us here.

In other states you can sell your gun to anyone without any back ground checks or anything. It's a straw purchase basically. From what I understand, perfectly legal except if you buy a gun from a gun dealer then knowingly sell it to someone you know cannot pass a background check and/or know he or she will use the gun for illegal activities. I think background checks are bogus. If a person committed a crime and has paid their debt to society via doing their prison time, all rights are restored. If people are concerned that that person who served time will commit a crime again, why are they letting them out to begin with and basically admitting that prison or jail does not rehabilitate people.

Not a straw purchase in any way, shape, or form. Don't cater to their bull**** and manipulation. If they've planted it in your mind that selling private party guns to each other, regardless of the lack of malice, without a background check is inherently evil, they've won.

Please take the time to read the law and understand what a straw purchase is before you apply that label to PPT sales.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

                Basically no...

It's a private transaction between two parties - just the same as if I sell my TV on craigslist, or a cell phone on ebay, or a blender at a swap-meet.

Here in California, following the law there are no loopholes.

In some other States private party sales of guns are legal without a background check.

Bloomberg the Millionaire Anti-Gun New York Politician is constantly talking about the "Gunshow Loophole", where people can buy a gun from a private party, cash, no background check.

But this is not legal or done in California so the subject is moot.

Bloomberg might not like guns but he does have 12 armed, full time bodyguards.

Congratulations, you've fallen for the anti's BS.

If someone is getting a gun for a criminal, laws requiring background checks won't stop them because people will do straw purchases anyway. Selling your own personal property without a background check is not an issue, and in states like CA where you can't legally do it, criminals have not been stopped.

"Loophole" definition as given by Liberal Progressives.

Anything that is not illegal that they want to make illegal.

First label it a "loophole". Wrongly label anyone who legally does it, as a criminal deviant who is using the legal means to somehow subvert a non-existant law. In this way, with the constant Liberal Progress Bias Stream Media obsfucation. It makes uninformed persons begin to believe it is an actual "loophole". Not just another perfectly legal action.

Hitler/Groebels said it, and the Liberal Progressive Politicians supported by the Liberal Progressive Bias Stream Media of today find it still works for them.

"Tell a LIE, big enough, loud enough, and long enough. And people begin to believe it as the truth."

and then once they're doing the useless background checks (sound good but don't prevent crime) they have their foot in the door for registration... to get ready for confiscation.

Has anybody done any studies crimes committed with guns purchased using "the gun show loophole"?

Seems like it would be a tiny amount. Most people sell guns to people they know or who are part of groups like Calguns. I'll bet 99.9999999% of the C&R CA ppt long guns, sold before "the loophole" was closed in 2013, were never used in a crime.
