    Ruger mini 14 jamming up

I have a friend who has a stainless steel model mini 14 that he lubed using smith and Wesson lubricant and it's not jamming but the action is extremely slow and feels like it's going to double feed or jam or hang fire. I dunno it's hard to explain...anyone ever had this issue?

    Thanks in advance

^^^Only problem I've ever had with a mini was due to aftermarket mags. If not that clean everything off and start over

its alwase the magazines. is he using factory mags or aftermarket? mini's function best with factory 20 rounders everything else can cause problems.

Ruger's aren't known to be able to read what brand of oil is used. But with Ruger's they run best with factory mags. Is he running some low power reloads? Stock mini's will let you know how they are doing by how far they throw the brass, if it's less than 15ft away, I'd say low power ammo, or serious carbon build up in the gas system.

If you are having issues with aftermarket mags, purchase ruger followers. Toss the old ones. They are useless.

I would break down and clean the entire rifle, use factory mags, and some 5.56 ammo. These would be my basics. If he still has a problem contact ruger.
