Moving to CA w/ a Glock 19

Hello everyone,

I am just separating from the military stationed in the Midwest and I am moving back to California with my Glock 19... From what I understand, all I need to do to make my Glock 19 compatible with California gun laws is to purchase 10 rnd magazines, correct?

Also, I was looking in California law definitions of AR's and I was contemplating buying a Ruger .22 LR Semi Automatic Rimfire (10 rnd) rifle and I saw that the current law bans centerfire rifles. It is safe to say that it is ok for me to purchase this weapon before I return to California? Or should I play it safe and just buy a bolt-action?

What about semi automatic rimfire rifles? I was just looking into SB 374 that did not pass; did this bill classify rimfire semi automatics also illegal if SB 374 did pass?

Semi auto Rimfire and centerfire rifles are legal - not sure where you got the idea that centerfire rifles are banned here. We still can buy ARs, AKs etc they just need mag locks or no 'evil' features.

No impact on rimfire.
SB374 would have banned the "bullet button"

California assault weapon laws do not apply to rimfire long guns (they do apply to all handguns), nor do they apply to bolt or lever action rifles.

You can buy a Magblock limiter for the magazines to limit capacity to 10 rounds. Epoxy the floor plate or rivet the floor plate for permanent neutering of your goods.

Oh... I thought it was... here is my source for "center fire semi automatic" that it is illegal. I think I pretty much cleared that semi automatic rimefires are still legal.

why would he need to neuter glock 19 magazines? If he owned the original 15 round and others before ..cant he still own them? I use standard glock magazines all day--carry them as CCW as well.

If he owned magazines before CA banned any new ones..he can still have his old magazines..or rebuilt with new pieces of gen 4 magazines correct?

He cant import his high cap mags unless they were legally owned inside of california preban.

If you want to play it safe you should stay out of California. There is no good reason to live here.

There are dozens of good reasons to be in California. Thats what we have 1 in 10 Americans living here, but that's not what this thread is about.


So you cant bring in standard glock magazines, but you can bring in parts of magazines, correct?

The other part is how does .gov official prove these were either rebuilds or in this state previously? Its a cluster fud.

I don't think its breaking the law to have magazine parts.

Buy as many non roster pistols as you can before coming over here. Trust me they will.pay off.
