Red box means CPO.
You might consider splitting up the 9mm barrel and selling it separately, and also selling three of the mags separately, as well as the holsters.
Basically just sell a P229 DAK 40 w/two mags - keep it simple. P229DAK 40 is issued by USCG and DHS among other agencies. So it is a legit gun and has a place in every collection.
I bought a P229DAK 40SW with two mags for $500 a couple of months back, but that was a steal. I'd say it is worth at least $650 - $700. There's a lot of guys out there with $700 to burn on a pistol, fewer with $1000 - $1100.
The other thing you could consider doing is converting it to SA/DA - they appeal to a wider audience. The problem is this is not a native 9mm, which along with SA/DA is what you would need to get the $1000.Last edited by SkyHawk; 12-14-2015, 10:19 PM.Comment

Sell the extras/accessories separately and get the price down to something with less zeros after the "$" sign. 0's scare people. If a dealer thinks a car is worth $10,000...they list it at $9,987 for a reason. Same goes here.
Nice gun BTW. Good luck.
Dammit. Now I want your gun.Originally posted by KestryllI want to be Princess Anastasia today because I feel prettyOriginally posted by QuarterBoreGunnerKes is really just an errand boyOriginally posted by KestryllI am NOT...anything other than a schmuck...Comment

Yup, for what you're offering, it is over priced...not in value, but for your market audience. I'd estimate the market value at $650-$700
1. It is a CPO gun - which should have been less expensive to start with. That is offset a bit by being a non-CA gun.
2. Conversion barrel - adds no value when sold with the gun. It is usually expected to be thrown in. That it was converted from a 229-1 doesn't help it's value
3. Holsters - add value, but not usually price when sold with a gun. It might sell sooner with the holster, but most folks wouldn't pay more for it just because it comes with holsters...the SIG Sauer holster doesn't add anything to the value
4. DAK - limits your market...but it wouldn't be worth converting it to try to open up your market. I think the DAK is a great trigger, but it isn't everyone's cup of tea
5. The Hogue rubber grips don't help it and neither does the Short trigger. Do you at least have the original grips?
The offer to trade for the H&K P2000 would have been a good trade straight acrossLast edited by 9mmepiphany; 12-15-2015, 10:44 AM....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

Thanks for the advice guys! I appreciate it. I actually had no clue that the red box was certified pre owned. I'm guessing the original box is blue? I guess I'll just keep the thing as it is a fun gun.I don't drink or Smoke. I spend my money on gunpowder and gasoline.Comment

Just to give you an idea of the difference in price.
When I got my last SIG 220ST (all stainless), the going price at dealers was $800-$1200. As a CPO, out of TX, I got mine for $600 plus $60, transfer fee to FFL and DROS ($35+$25)...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
