16 People, mostly kids at my range having a blast.

The day started with the required safety lecture and then we took all the kids down to the range. Ten kids and six adults total. Most with zero gun experience when they met me. I've taught them all how to shoot so the mom could pass on her deceased fathers guns to his grandchildren. Long story . . . anyhow my range is not that big, sort of a pistol bay. It works okay for testing my rifle loads on the chronograph and pistol practice. It was perfect for letting the kids shoot the .22LR rifles. All had plenty of fun and learned a thing or two.
    The "Range"

Teaching some basics about proper grip and trigger discipline.

The kids were having a blast. They were even enthusiastic about setting targets.

Everybody got to shoot and all had fun.

A couple of the kids were not hitting paper at 7 yards and I worked with them to get them on the paper and both went from a little sad to very happy. It was a real joy to teach them and we could not care less about having to clean all the guns when the day was over. The parents supplied some of the ammo and the Shoo-N-See targets so that was nice of them.

    We fired around 1000 .22LR, 300 9MM, 100 .45ACP, 50 12GA, 50 .38S&W, 72 7.65x25Tok and 100 .32ACP.

A great picture at the end of the day. We shot for about five hours and then had a great meal.

            Good job!

Who shot better the girls or the boys?

My girl has a 12 year old girl and 14 year old boy. I taught them on a .22 bolt action Marlin. The girl was a natural from the first time she picked up the rifle. She was hitting inside 6" targets at 100 yards, fixed sights, the first day. Of course I started them at 25 yards, then 50 then 100.

She can shoot my AR damn well. The 870 she has also embraced, with a little backup

              This picture just looks... wrong.

Because she looks like she's acting AS THE TARGET even if there was 110% safety in place. Pictures are NOT worth a thousand words.

How did I know someone would find something to complain about. You guys never let me down. The targets were being shot for a prize with each kid getting points according to the hits on the target. The parents were having each kid pose with the target they shot as they were coming back to the line with their target.
She was sad knowing she had not done so well.

Then she was happy after getting some good hits. She got 3 bulls, the ragged hole at three o'clock. The best grouping of anyone.

It's not as bad as this one . . . I almost said something to them when they did this, but the line was in a safe condition and they were having fun. Besides, they all knew to make sure of what was beyond their target and to only fire if the target and what was beyond the target was safe to destroy.

Much happier after hitting the target.

And yes, this is the range at my house.

Several days later the bolt was rusted shut but I guess the fouling wasnt TOO bad.

This is the next generation of gun owners getting a good start. Great job. Also, I envy you having a mini range on your property.
