Does anyone else think about this... ?

I would bet almost 100% of the people on this board are good people. We do enjoy our guns and have a great time shooting them. We were all very excited to finally buy an AR after so many years of darkness.....
.. but what about the low lifes that hear about this crack in the system go out and buy an lower + kit and put an AR togather go out and shoot some poeple in a drive by? Do you ever think that, Ya its cool we can buy this stuff, but so can some gangsters cousin? In my neighborhood i can hear gunshots all the time. last night i heard a few full auto bursts and it got me thinking. just some random thoughts..

Criminals don't buy their guns through legal channels because it leaves a paper trail.

Agreed, if a criminal wants an AK or AR they'll get it by other means. The OLL situation changes nothing for them.

The thing I'm worried about is the people who don't take the time to figure out what is legal in regards to building their OLLs, like this one teen at the Chabot shoot when we had the Shoot-N-Q, who had his built up with a detachable magazine and every evil feature but a flare launcher, then argued with myself and bweise about it's legality. Those kinds of people make us look bad. The criminals will do whatever they do regardless of the law, hence why they are criminals, and not law-abiding citizens.

Why would some "gangsters cousin" want to spend the time and money to build an AR 15 that would have a 4473 to go with it when they can use the AR they stole from your house along with all of your jewelry and electronics instead for their drive-by. Guns are alot easier to buy on the street than going through the process we law abiding citizens go through, and there's no 10 day wait.

WOW you guys are soo far off.. I know this is going on. C'mon.. paper trail?? all you have to do is shave the number off and there is no trail. Or they can just report it stolen and then sell them to their sisters BF to build. There are ways.. please it would be a nice thought that all of these sold are legal but its pretty easy to just go out and buy one..

and as far as buying guns on the street ya its pretty easy but ur not gonna get an AR. Your pretty limited to whatever they have on hand or whatever they just boosted from whoevers house. I have three diff people i can do through for guns, except i would rather do it legit. And guns on the street are not that cheap.. if its clean then its about $200 for like a 38 or a 9mm. $300 for others. Shotguns you can get pretty cheap.. It all depends on how many heads they have on them.

** and yes im trying to move sooon. GA here i come

What about the low life that go out and buy a car and use it to rob a bank or abduct someone? Last night I heard sirens from a car chase.....
It's the price of freedom. You can't expect everyone to do the right thing, and why do you bring up an OLL? Because it looks SCARY,plug in some other gun type, there just as dangerous. Sounds to me like your buying into media hype.

Is the implication that our ability to own a particular firearm bad because someone else might misuse it?

You can buy a car and drive into a crowd of people. You can take a hammer and hit someone over the head. Any kitchen knife can be used to kill.

Things are not evil. People can be.

OLL situation or not, what would ever stop some Kalifornia gang thugs from driving to Arizona to buy a bunch of gun stuff, driving back to Kalifornia, and sell the stuff to the gangs here? Gun running is as old a business as guns. Because of the OLL issue it may be slightly more convenient for a gangster to build an illegal AR, maybe. The fact is you can't stop criminals from getting illegal guns any more than you can stop them from getting illegal drugs. Some of the street drugs come here from half a world away. Kalifornia illegal guns are as close as the nearest border. Unless the Gov gets the "gang situation" under control then the "gun situation" won't be under control.

Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch: And the Lord spake, 'First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to 3. No more. No less. 3 shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be 3. 4 shalt thou not count, nor either count thou 2, excepting that thou then proceed to 3. 5 is right out. Once the number 3, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.'

I can't imagine a gang banger building an OLL. I'm not saying it's never been done or impossible for them to build, I just can't imagine it when all they have to do is drive to AZ and steal anything they want.

Most of the bigger gangs have branched out to free states and have built a network for running drugs and guns, and whatever else they are in to. I believe most of the AK/AR type guns that are being used by gangs come from out of state.

Yah, thats 1980s and 90s propaganda... Gangs use easy to conceal and throw away pistols and revolvers for hits...

No one rolls around with a huge AK in the car, Im sure SOMEWHERE in SoCal there's a banger with some AKs, but they really AREN'T that common...

They are expensive too. I know of someone that was offered a new in box mac-11 the other day... price?? $1000 cash... for a $289 gun.

What gang banger is gonna fork out $1000 for a Mac-11 when he could get a stolen glock for 1/2 or less of that....

The whole "Assault weapon + gangs" thing is way over rated..>We don't live in an NWA song hahaha.

So what if gangbangers are buying them? There is nothing I/you/we can do about what the next guy is going to do. So no, I don't feel guilt or anything else about off list lowers coming into the state. Bad guys are going to do what they're going to do and because there are bad guys, I'm happy to have my weapons.
