Appears to be a Winchester 1873, or a clone of. Did you remove the finish? I don't think I have ever seen one that had no markings on it whatsoever.

I have not done anything to this rifle, i have never even really touched it. I received this rifle when my grandfather passed away ~5+ years ago. I doubt he removed the finish.

I think you should have an expert look at the rifle. I can't fathom the rifle without markings? Tool room sample? I'm not smart enough to know but start with Winchester collectors and go from there.

I have no idea what it is or what it's worth, but I'll give you $300.00 for it.

Just kidding, sort of, it's probably worth more.

What makes you think it's a Pistol caliber? 44/40 or 38/40? Looks like it's been wire brushed which would kill any value it may have.

I have no idea, I just saw the small chamber and knew it wasn't a traditional rifle caliber.

I dont think it has been wire brushed. The coating on it looks like it came that way, almost like a galvanized coating almost.

It kind of looks like a reproduction. Have you been able to send a cleaning rod from muzzle to breach?

What is your opinion of the metal. Quality steel or pot metal?

I have not cleaned it at all. My opinion of the metal is, I dont think it is quality steel, it looks like cast. It is an extremely heavy rifle for its size.

That looks like a non-firing replica. Not worth much.

It might be one of these. 1866 non firing replica.

This M1866 Lever-Action Repeating Rifle was a legend of the Old West. The lever action works just like the original. Hanging on your wall or over the fireplace, people will think it's the real thing. This unique replica gun has an antique gray finish and wooden stock and foregrip. The 1866 was only available in .44 caliber rimfire cartridge at first, and the more modern centerfire cartridges were added to the production line later. Its tubular magazine was located underneath the barrel. This non-firing version clearly demonstrates the workings of the lever-action loading system.

                            yeah, it's a prop gun.

I agree it looks like a Denix of Spain, 1866 Western non firing replica

Either that, or it's a real Model 66 chambered in 44 Henry rimfire
