    Interstate Purchase

OK, I'm sure this has been flogged to death, but, I figured I'd run it through.
I have been shooting 3-gun for about 5 years now. I wanted to upgrade my pistol, when I told a shooting buddy who leaves in Vegas he offered to sell me his STI. Of course I would love to jump on this BUT, being here in CA I don't want to break the rules and get anyone in trouble. So, simple question, "Can I buy his pistol and what would I need to do?" I know that it would have to go throw an FFL here in CA, but I'm concerned that it is not on the approved list (I don't see it there). From what I've read ( http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/ag...f/cfl2013.pdf? see page 5 ), this wouldn't matter as it's considered a "Private Sale". Can anyone help clarify this or point me in the right direction I would be appreciative.

    Thanks gang.

Out of state private party sale is handled like any dealer sale. It has to be on the roster.

The roster exemption for PPT is for face to face sales only, and he can't do a FTF sale because he is not a CA resident.

So you're SOL on that one.

'Private sale' in this context means a transaction between two CA residents who both have CA ID.

You cannot buy an off roster pistol from your Nevada buddy unless it is exempt, which this STI is not, or you are exempt (law enforcement). You can marry him, then he can give it to you.

        Then just divorce him.
