Friend sent me this link... I don't know exactly where Laton is (other than it's obviously in Kings County) but I'm sure it's rural. Interesting to note that homeowner wasn't arrested and the "weapon" which he claimed caused him to fear for his life was the grip of an impact wrench. Seems like things went as well as they could and the homeowner got most (all?) of his property back.

Seems to be a good outcome for the homeowner so far. Hopefully the DA doesn't give him the treatment, but since it is Kings Co. he is probably gtg.

The "handgun" turned out to be a impact wrench. Sounds a hell of a lot more legit than many police shootings that end up being determined to be "justified".

This was my first thought too.

Some here feel he should have retreated and called 911 to properly and safely clear the home and property.

The stolen property, which included approximately $1,200 worth of miscellaneous tools, was returned to the victim.
