Looking to potentially unload some of my personal inventory.

When doing a PPT as a seller, what all is involved? A shop in Burbank told me over the phone that as a seller, I just need a driver's license (or state ID) and for me to be present during the transaction. All of which, make sense of course.

What peaked my curiosity is:
What is it (process wise) the FFL dealer does on behalf of the seller? Do they run a background check on the selling party? What does the FFL do with the selling party's driver's license? Is the pistol's serial # scrubbed through some database?

NO - It is simply transferred to the seller.

I am not a FFL but this is my understanding. Someone more knowledgeable may correct me.

The shop is correct. Show up with the gun and your ID.

The shop does the DROS on their computer. The CDOJ runs the background check on the buyer and the shop will hold the gun in their safe for 10 days during the mandatory wait.

Assuming your buyer is not prohibited, he will pick up the gun after 10 days and take it home.

It's not complicated. Have the buyer pay the DROS fee. $35 bucks.

Make sure what you are selling is CA legal of course.

You need to show up with your ID and fill out some paperwork.

The FFL submits the DROS paperwork, transferring the gun to the buyer.
The form gets checked by CADOJ as part of the process.

Assuming the buyer passes the background check, 10 days later he picks up the gun.

Make sure your buyer has the FSC card and the two forms of ID.

If selling with any extras like more mags or tools, I suggest giving those to the buyer separately.
Let the FFL hold the gun and one mag. (If applicable).

Not sure about the serial number check, others will chime in.

Some people say the guns are checked against the stolen database during the DROS.
