There was a fire which was quickly contained on Sunday that started at the pistol range of the Winchester Gun Club in the hills of Santa Barbara Ca. I'm a member of this club and have been monitoring the local "forum" (Edhat.com) and the libs are already bashing the use of firearms at the club.
Here's an email I received from the Range Manager with more info:
WCGC RANGE CLOSURE Monday November 30, 2014
Dear Members,
We had a fire today at the Pistol Range which requires us to close ALL Ranges to shooting tomorrowMonday November 30th. Fire Department personnel will still be on site monitoring the range.
The fire started around noon on Sunday at the pistol range in the brushy area behind the 50 yard line. There were shooters present at the time and the range had been shut down for several minutes for routine target changes.
When flames appeared on the hillside, club members and Range Safety and Administrative personnel responded rapidly: calling 911, closing the ranges, notifying shooters to evacuate the area, containing the fire as best they were able while awaiting agency response.
Several fire agencies responded quickly with significant resources including Helicopter water drops, 2 air tanker flybys (no drops), many fire trucks, hot-shot crews plus law enforcement back up. The agencies included USFS, SB County FD, San Marcos Resident Volunteer Fire Dept, SB Sheriff and CHP. Our thanks to them for keeping us safe.
Again we want to commend the Club Members and Range Safety & Administrative personnel at the scene for their rapid, professional and effective response - Thank You !!
