I somewhat followed the event as it played out in Colorado Springs, and have done some internet based news report searching. Every report I read described the weapon as some type of “long gun” and “other” weapons Out of the several pages of reporting I have read I only found one online report claiming the Planned Parenthood Assailant used an AK-47 type rifle. Everything else called it a long gun. Obama in one of his statements I read called it an AK, in another statement he made he referred to "weapons of war". Seems to me something is Fishy here. Historically, it seems that in most cases when an "Assault rifle" is used in shooting events such as this, the gun description is all over the media with a clear agenda to demonize the gun. Why does it appear that it is being played down. Bountyhunter on another thread where I asked this question indicated that every national report he had seen called it an “AR” Does anyone have a definitive answer as to what was used. Maybe I am reading too much into this, but the vague description by the media of the weapons seems od.
