    1 in 30 handgun question

    Hello,

I was just informed of my DROS rejection, and I have a couple of questions, so here are the relevant details to start.

I'll start by listing all of my transactions/DROS since October 1st.

New purchase (#1) from FFL inventory, October 19th, 6:04:20 PM
    PPT with private seller at a different FFL on October 29th, 5 : 29 : 36 PM
Picked up (#1) at FFL on October 29, 6:35:33 PM
Picked up PPT at unknown time (I'm sorry, I do not have a clear record of this)
New purchase (#2) from FFL inventory, November 18, 5:15:55 PM.

Denied, today (Nov 23rd) for 1 in 30 violation. I can only restart the DROS on December 19th.

I know I am cutting it a bit close, however, so far as I can tell, with October being 31 days and a Daylight Savings Time change stuck in there, I do not believe I've actually violated 1-in-30. I'll note the latest allowed pickup time from Purchase #1 was November 18, 5:04:20 PM - exactly 720 hours from the initial DROS for purchase 31.

Is there anything I can do about this? My FFL seemed quite reluctant to even look at this. Is there anyone I can contact to rectify this?

    Thank you.

They probably don't recognize day light savings time on their records. Meaning that they don't accept it. In addition I would bet that their computer system simply flags it and since the computer system changes over to day light savings time, it doesn't adjust for that.

I always wait an extra day. If you get it wrong, you get to wait ANOTHER 30 days. In your case you should not have gambled with DST.

Notice the actual law doesn't say 720 hours. It says 30 days. And when DST is involved, don't gamble with what that means. DST throws everything off. You were impatient by 50 minutes and get to wait another 30 days for it.

27535. (a) No person shall make an application to purchase more
than one handgun within any 30-day period.
Now you might contact DOJ BOF using their web form and see if they can do anything for you, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

        Remember!
        The law isn't about safety.
It's about making it harder to be a gun owner.
