Tomorrow, Sunday, a group of us will be going up to shoot at the place known as "The Quarry" in the Eldorado National Forest.

If anyone wants to go, meet us at the NW corner of the Safeway parking lot, in Pollock Pines, by 10 a.m. Take the Sly Park road exit and turn left at the end of the ramp to get to the Safeway.

Should be someplace that allows rapid fire, as shooting 1 round every 3 seconds out of a 1919 just isn't the same as blasting away.

plus everyone likes to do a mag dump every once in a while.

I feel the same way. Although I do understand why alot of ranges don't like rapid fire, you start to shoot their target stands up and it can be unsafe. But there's gotta be somewhere closer that we can get sorta the same feeling from. We could always go rapid fire with 22's at LARG and kill all of those rabid soda cans we bring with us .

It was good having you guys up again. Those 1919s are pretty cool. Not my personal cup of tea, but ever since last fall the GF wants one of her own now.

Next time we need more steel to shoot too.

Sorry it's so far for you guys to come. But on the other hand, there's no Range Nazis to hassle us. Even the local guys liked your belt feds. None of that "what'cha need one of those fer".

Seriously, the reason I (we) stopped posting the directions on the net is mainly because the last time I went up there, whoever had been there prior to me had left the place trashed out. Very badly. Even when we got there this time there was trash left. We clean up more than we take in. That includes the thousands of pieces of brass.

It's public land. Not "my" land. But it's close to me and I go there a lot so I feel like it's partially mine. The guys who have been there with me can tell you what a great place it is to go shoot. We clean up before we leave because we want to be able to go back there and not find the USFS has put a locked gate up. We clean up because it's the RIGHT thing to do. Cleaning up the area before we leave makes us appreciate what we have.

Sorry if I sound a little preachy, but that's the way it is.
