    question about selling a gun.

If i was to sell a gun to another person in California, can I ship it to his FFL or does it have to go from my FFl to his FFL? Thanks.

You should first ask his FFL if he will accept the shipment directly from you. Some FFL's will only accept firearms shipments from other FFL's. Others might want a photocopy of your drivers license included with the shipment.

Another question. When the buyers mail the copy of the ffl and money order. Do you just need to keep the copy of the ffl or do you need to file it with someone?

In a state like california, it is probably in your best interest to store the FFL in some kind of file folder amidst your gun paperwork. Everyone should keep paperwork on their guns somewhere...what you own, what you paid, serial numbers, etc. Even if just for insurance purposes or when you die so your heirs can figure out what's what.

In this case...say said gun is used in a crime. Police will contact BATFE for a trace. BATFE calls the manufacturer/imprter to find out who they sold it to. They will follow the trail to distributor, jobber, gunshop, etc until they get to you. It's in your best interest to have some kind of trail showing where the gun went.
