Is there any point to doing this? I wouldn't compromise the integrity of the metal, but if you must: Put it over a burner on your stove.

Use a commerial demagnetizer. In the studios we used to use "Handi-mags" for tape heads.

You can build your own with a transformer primary. Charge it up with 120 volts, place it on the barrrel and slowly pull it away. Penalties are assesed if you electrocute yourself.

He can just rub a strong magnet against it very fast and pull it away. It won't completely kill it, but will do a decent enough job. And no risk of electrocution.

Have you checked out other parts of the firearm?

Is this the firing pin on a Glock?

Do you store your guns on magnets?

Rubbing two pieces of steel against one another in the same linear orientation can magnetize them. No big deal, nothing to worry about. If it fell on the carpet, though...

Just drop the magnetized metal on a hard floor. Mechanics used to magnetize screwdrivers all the time and then drop them on the concrete to de-magnetize them.

You should not worry. That is pretty benign.

I suppose it makes cleaning easier?

Op - perhaps you have one of those magnetic magazine/accessory holders in your safe?

Hold the magnetized part against the edge of a TV or computer monitor screen. One with a CRT tube. Power it up. The degaussing coil will demagnetize your part.

Just don't try shooting any steel core ammo and you should be fine.
