A buddy of mine got his Xbox 360, Wii and 3 laptops stolen. It sucks man. They would've taken more but they probably couldn't carry it.
I hope they don't come back for seconds cuz you'll give em what they want but the fast way!

I would never call 911. Speed dial local PD works much better.Yes Antioch has turned into a sheithole because of Section 8. Don't get me started. I have a safe and I also have a few scattered within the home for quick access protection. We are going to "hide those better".
We are also going to go through some drills. So question for you guys:
You enter the home, you hear glass:
What do you do next and in what order?:
a) dial 911 on your cell
b) go inside and dial 911 on the home phone
c) go inside and find the Glock
d) do not enter and go back outside and wait
e) Call Nancy Pelosi for help
If you have guns that are not locked up, you might just want to wait for the Police to arrive. You could walk into a BG holding one of your guns

May I ask approximately where in Antioch?
We have our share of empty foreclosures and ghetto shacks in our neighborhood.
Glad the loss was minimal. I keep my laptop on the kitchen table by the sliding glass door. I will remove that temptation.Last edited by dixieD; 12-14-2008, 8:33 AM.As Einstein has shown that it takes infinite energy to accelerate a mass to the speed of light, Obama AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE will demonstrate that it takes infinite money to attain utopiaComment

Just because the neighborhood looks nice, doesn't mean it isn't a ghetto. When we were house hunting in the spring we saw quite a few neighborhoods that looked ok, but you could tell that trash had been living there. This was mostly in Concord, Martinez & Pleasant Hill. I think that in addition to Section 8, the sub-primes helped move people into nice areas that they would not have been able to otherwise.
My favorite was when we walked into a house, and realized from the sealed off rooms and black painted windows that it had probably been a drug house. Nice, new house outside, trash inside. Nice neighborhood, but there were also 8 other foreclosures on the street.
Please note that others have used this screen name on non-gun related sites, and I am not related to them in any way.Comment

Amen to that, when I was helping my sister look for a place in Santa Clara and Cupertino area, we hit up about 40 apt complexes, in one of them as the apt manager opened the door, she discovered 6 druggies living inside! The place was littered with weed, condoms and needles.
The funny thing is after she got them out, she tried to show us the place and told us they will clean this all up! Unbelievable!Comment

Glad all end's well as best as possible. Good job on getting a safe. You could attach some finger lock boxes around the house & stash a pistol in them. Quick retrieval & relatively secure.
As far as somebody referring to my town as Gun Point..... I put the GUN! in Gun Point.
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

I go with the exact opposite order of precedence. I grab the gun and then call 9-1-1. If the scumbag happens to be more than a thief (crackhead, tweaker, psychotic) then taking the time to call 9-1-1 gives the perp that much more time to possibly get into a confrontation with an unarmed homeowner.e) Call nancy pelosi for help
but really, if I walk in and hear glass shatter I first dial 911 either on my cell or my home phone which ever is closest...then grab a gun and stay put, I will not be clearing my house unless my wife or kids are in another room, and once I have them with me we stay in one spot hopefully a secure location in the house and wait for the cops.
1. GUN IN HAND
2. CALL FOR HELP 9-1-1
3. REMEMBER TO AIM FOR CENTER MASS TO STOP THREAT.sigpic

uuugghh, used to live in antioch and pittsburg. i have endless crime stories from there....
glad your son is ok, since i work from home my place is kinda the safe house for neighborhood kids should something similar happen. we are getting more daytime home burglaries on top of the occasional night time car break-ins.
they got one guy's small safe (took the whole thing) with a 9mm inside.WestcoastrComment

WHAT? "He ran inside"? No, no, you don't run inside when you suspect you house has been burglarized. You leave and call 911 from a safe place, let the cops deal with it. Never ever confront a perp if you have an escape route and no one is in danger, even then you should probably leave to get help, if you don't know the situation. Please get "Home Defense" training, before you get hurt or worse killed._____________________________________________

My family and the old folk next door are the only Section 8 tenants at my apartments.
The old folk are WW2 Era. The old lady used to build bombers. The old man used to kill Nazi's.
My family is the second most well-armed family in the building.
I've never been to Antioch, but I can guarantee the cities surrounding us are WAY more ghetto than anything up north.
Your family was not hurt...thats the most important thing...
Its time to get a big dog and a tough sliding glass door.
EDIT: I would call 911 from your house phone. CHP is lame at getting calls transfered in a timely manner. Plus, you don't want your cell dropping a call (bad reception) at a moment like that...Comment

Gun safe FTW.... I'm sure that the douchebag will be back. Sliding glass doors are beautiful, but aren't worth a damn for protection. get real doors with locking gates.Sure I work on Guns ; 105, 120 and 155mm. There was that 20" though.Comment
