Just leave them full for a week. Leaving them loaded doesn't wear them out. Compression/decompression cycles wear out the springs.

Springs do not typically wear either under compression or fully expanded, they wear by use.

Had over 10 5.56 maga fully loaded for 10 months in Iraq and no issue whatsoever. You name it sir, been to every weather in Iraq as well (sand storm to rainy muddy season).

As noted above, leaving a magazine fully loaded is not an issue. As an active LE officer, I generally never kept a magazine loaded longer that 6-9 months, at which time I cycled the ammunition through my gun and then reloaded with new ammunition. I retired in 2002 and stored my fully loaded HK USP, .45 magazines in the back of my safe and promptly forgot they were there. Early this year I rediscovered those magazines and took them to the range. They all functioned perfectly, no issues of any kind.

Springs do not typically wear either under compression or fully expanded, they wear by use.

Some mag mfgs...Wilson Combat for example...advise to load the mags for a couple days prior to using them. The act of compressing the spring for a couple days allows the spring to set and function more reliably.

Why not just use a magazine loader like a UpLULA (pistol mags) or a StripLULA (AR-15mags)?

Shooting it will be about the only way to break them in, just sitting loaded won't do much.

Why not just use a magazine loader like a UpLULA (pistol mags) or a StripLULA (AR-15mags)?

This will make it easier to load, until they reach a point where loading is easy by hand. Even then using the loader is habit and a bit easier on the thumb when your loading and shooting a lot.

If you want to break them in, just load and unload the mags nightly several times.

All of my mags whether pistol or rifle are fully loaded all the time, MT mags are useless except for throwing at someone. With Mag-Pul I get the dust-caps and leave them on to help keep pressure off of the mag lips.
