    Barska Binoculars at Big 5

Does anyone have any familiarity with the Barska Binoculars at Big 5. I am looking at a pair for $59 that has 12-36X60mm zoom. Seems decent enough for the range to see my targets out to maybe 200 yards. What do you guys think?

You'll be able to see targets @ 200 yards. But you won't be able to see the bullet holes in the targets.

The resolution on binoculars aren't anywhere near as good as a spotting scope.

Maybe a good quality pair like Zeiss or Steiner might work for spotting holes on paper at 200, but a quality 10x rifle scope will have a better chance of seeing bullet holes on paper at 200 than the binoculars you're asking about.

The only time I would use binoculars for shooting is to watch bullet trace for a shooter, and only if I am in a situation where I can't use a spotting scope on a scope stand (i.e. I have to be mobile).

When you mention a "pair", that is two binoculars. Do you mean two, or really only one binocular? A binocular is one individual unit.

      Just curious.

I bought a pair of these for the niner games. I dont want to take my good glass to the ball park. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised with the results. Of course they have yet to be dropped.

Okay you got me, I guess if you want to get technical. I am looking to purchase 1 set of binoculars. So now that is clarified, maybe you can help me out. I understand at 200 yards this are probably not that great. But for 100 yards it is still better than me trying to see with open sights or my aimpoint. I really just need some cheap optics to see if I hit the paper at 50 to 100 yards. Right now I can't tell if i hit or not with my AR15. I am picking up some shoot and see targets soon so that should help also.

you may as well tape two coke bottles together for all the resolution you are going to get out of a barska....not to come off as rude, but you paid, I am sure a lot of money for your AR and getting it set up just the way you like. Drop some coin on some quality optics......

save up buy some zeiss, leica or swarovski....Leupold has some good products now by way of binoculars.......better yet just get a spotting scope......I have a leica spotter and at 20x I have no issues seeing holes for my .204 at 200yds and beyond

maybe I should clarify a little bit. I have 1 ar15 with an Aimpoint Micro on top which is a really fast acquisition optic. I have 1 ar15 with a Bushnell Elite 6500 on top which is a very very good optic. I also have low cost NCStar for a 10/22 Ruger that is just for plinking at 50 yards or so. I do want a spotting scope some time later, but for now my main goal is to be able to see what I hit at 100 yards without breaking the bank. I completely agree that there are much better optics out there, but I also think that there are cases where cheap optics are good enough. May not be the best but at least functional. Maybe binoculars aren't going to cut it, but then what can I use for a $100 or less to see a target at 100 yards? I have read reviews of the Stokes Sandpiper which can be had for a good deal on some sites. Is that going to be my best bet for a low price?

I bought a pair of them POS. They broke once, I fixed it and it broke again. So I am done with them. YMMV.

Thanks for the info guys I'll pass on the binoculars then. How about any good deals on a spotting scope.

Stay away!!! I bought the same pair, worked ok the first time, then broke the second time i took them out of the case. I then got new ones, and they did the same thing. Don't waste your money on Barska!!! you would be better off with a pair of Bushnells from walmart for the same price!

I've been pretty happy with my Vortex Brand red dot on my AR.

I'm looking to buy this one, Not to hijack the tread... but anyone have experience with this scope. It helps the OP too

                            Barfska.

Save your money. For range use budget a minimum of $250 for a spotting scope and for games and races $200 for binoculars. It's well worth the money to see clearly.

The name is supposed to remind you of Swarovski which

are really good binoculars. Barska are NOT good. They will get out of allignment fast and then they are unusable. Binoculars above 10x are of little value anyway without a solid mount or tripod. And that sort of defeats the purpose of having mobile optics. Save up and get some good 7x35 or 7x50 from Nikon, pentax, Leupold, Steiner or if you can swing it Swarovski, Leitz or Zeiss
