I second the durability & quality of the GoRuck packs. I would suggest a Bullet Ruck 10L or their new Rucker (20L or 25L) due to their price points. I use a Bullet Ruck as my diaper bag / day pack.

I saw Oakley has a few I like and some others online. I don't care for the military Mollie backpacks because they have to many pockets and zippers.

Can adjust the size, not too many pockets and zippers and you can still be tacticool
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson (quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria)"

along with the OldSchool LBT packs, early Eagle Industries stuff is always worth a look. before the time of overseas manufacture, made in USA Blackhawk packs are good as well. that's not to say that current production offerings are not worthy of purchase. there's a lot of high quality stuff out there today. i'm simply a fan of the early offerings of some of these companies that have survived through the years; YMMV.

I use a plain Targus computer backpack for travel and day use. not much to look at, but has plenty of pockets, can load a bunch of stuff into it, and is comfortable. Not tacti-cool, but it works

Sounds more like a modified backpack is what you need. Dakine has served me well (Holds up to cramming 7+ engineering textbooks and more than 50 pounds for extended periods of time) no damage to it in over 6 years other than a pair of scissors stabbing through one of the interior pockets when it was over-stuffed, took 3 minutes to sew it back up and never had a problem since. Not to mention that once you start to shop for militaristic equipment, you stand out like a swore thumb. I'd look into some videos on youtube on sewing (unless you have some) and buy a generic looking backpack (draws less attention). Those are my 2 cents.

I use a 511 12 hour and it's just not big enough. If you like 511 try the 24 hour bag. Lapolice gear has nice backpacks for under 50 bucks.

I carry a rush 24 just about everyday. great bag

I use osprey for hiking, they make damn good gear.

many people like the la police gear bags but they are crap. I do not like them. just my opinion and experience.
