    Jurrasic World?

Just watched that Jurrasic World and not sure why they had such small calibre rifles to take out dinosaurs? I would have thought they would have had some high powered weapons i case one got loose, better yet implant a bomb in the dinosaur and just click a button.

But seriously they had nothing except that 1 anti tank weapon. Just one I guess there isn't more than one big dinosaur, one shot one kill.

The next Jurassic amusement park I hope the step it up a notch.

Alright movie though could have been more to it than hiding from a dinosaur and running.
The name is Tex Grebner but my friends call me "the I just shot myself guy".

How many dinos have you taken out?

    Exactly....i took out 2...technically 1.

First was getting mauled by a pack of raptors...and i just put it down out of its misery.

The other was a 15ft triceratops i took down with a muzzleloaded .50cal right between the horns.

What did you expect? It was "Dinosaurs Eating People 4.0" - my wife and I were pretty accurate in our guesses as to who was going to be eaten within the first 10 minutes of the movie! As totally mindless entertainment, it was pretty good.

I don't know - Marlin .45-70 with some modern Hornady lever action rounds might mess a dinosaur up. "It's all about shot placement...." I think you'd rather have something like an African elephant stopper - .458 Lott, etc. A big African elephant is nearly dinosaur sized.

It was a pretty silly movie. Besides that's not the most stupid thing.
The Jeep starting and driving with just a new battery after rotting in a jungle for decades was the true leap of sci fi!

I had forgotten about that - but I do remember that scene straining my credulity at the time.

Hell, the fact that it was a Jeep that started at all, new or old, is what I found most unbelievable about that scene.

Watching it only made me want that 45-70 even more. Damn.
Then the guy shot the thing and it had your predictable Hollywood *zero* recoil.
OK, but I still want it.

.50 BMG minimum for those. Maybe .500 S&W for CCW in the park.😜

like anything else i think it probably comes down to shot placement

Exactly. I dropped my last T-Rex with my NAA .22 short. From 100 yards. No problem. One shot, one kill!

not unlike dealing with the black bear in the great outdoors, firearms are not necessary when encountering a t-rex. a loud cowbell and a can of Raid should keep you safe.

                            Really-

With all that was WRONG with the movie... the caliber is your concern....
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                            (thanks to Jeff Cooper)
