Sacramento Black Rifle will not sell Gen 2 Glocks unless you are LEO. They get LE Gen 2 trades in sometimes but they are marked for sale back to LE only. I asked them why last week, they said they are not on the roster.

So this is a case of your mileage may vary. But I have heard from a lot of people who bought Gen 2 Glocks on LE trade and it wasn't a problem, so always check with your FFL before you transfer one in.

What is the condition of these used police guns? Were they fired much or not at all? How many rounds does a cop shoot each year at the range?

Most LEO handguns are carried allot and shot a little. I'd look for environmental wear before worrying about the round count. Generally speaking though, quarterly qualifications of 50 rounds (+/-) depending on the officer's assignment(s).

This thread motivated me hit up the range. I just got back from sending some rounds down the pipe with my new G19 gen2.

I was very surprised with it's accuracy and performance. I did not rebuild the gun even though I had spare parts, just cleaned and lubed with SLIP2000.

The NY1 12lb trigger spring isn't that bad at all. I actually somewhat like it? The bore of the barrel is shiny new, crown is fantastic, the feed ramp finish is worn out though obviously. I ran some Freedoms Muni 115gr and AE 147 Flat Nose w/ 10 x 10 rd mags w/9mm6 followers, no problems.

All in all, the G19 looks like it's barely been shot much. The slide/frame does have holster wear and tear from duty use etc. It's a freaking tool, get over it.

Only complaint is that 1) the stock RSA squeaks and 2) I should of gotten talon grips. (waiting on a sale like a cheap-o)

Also, it says no USA made Glocks are certified. That's it. So, Gen2 is perfectly rostered gun.

THIS - helped my cousin pick a G19 Gen2 - it was as an LEO-trade in from River City Gun Exchange. Gen 2's are good to go

Ok... the roster information you're looking at is not providing the same details a dealer sees where there are exact model numbers.

                19 / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" 9mm 1/1/2017
                19 OD / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" 9mm 1/1/2017
                19C / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" 9mm 1/1/2017

Each unique model must be listed on the roster, and we know the "19" is a gen3 of course because that's the current production on roster. We know the "19 OD" is a Gen3 OD, and we know the "19C" is the Gen3 compensated model.

                So, two questions for you.
                1. Where is the entry for the Gen2?
                2. Why would Glock be paying fees to keep a line of pistols on roster they ceased manufacturing around 1998?

If I'm wrong, great, I'll go buy a few tomorrow, but just because you have an FFL logging a gen2 as a gen3 in the DROS system, doesn't mean every FFL will.

Someone expecting to buy this may be out some money when their FFL refuses to transfer to non-exempt person, and that person will be stuck paying shipping/restocking fees.

Using your argument, how we do know this listing is not really for Gen 2, and that Gen 3 is illegal?
                  19 / Steel, Polymer Pistol 4.02" 9mm 1/1/2017

The answer - there is no way to argue either way. Since the roster doesn't specify, and only says that Gen 4 is not on roster, Gen 2 must be good to go. Otherwise why does DOJ only specify that Gen 4 is not on the roster, when it would be just as easy for them to say Gen 2 is not on the roster?

And don't ask why a mfg keeps a gun on the roster, just be thankful they do. The Walther P1 is still on the roster, and it hasn't been made since 2004. I recently bought one from out of state on Gunbroker made in 1977, and was very thankful it was still listed. There are other examples of guns no longer made but still maintained on the roster - like the Colt Python Elite 6" Stainless - it hasn't been made since 2003. Yet there they are - year after year, roster renewed with fees paid.

It's a fact that each model will have their own entry on the roster. Gen2's were out of production for 3 years before the roster first started, and we all KNOW gen3's are on roster... so it's logical that the single entry designates the gen3.

Can anyone provide an example of another single entry on the roster that represents multiple configurations?

There is no need for that. Gen2 and Gen3 both qualify under Glock 19 entry on the roster. Gen4 does not.

You seem to be missing the point. Both Gen2 and Gen3 have the same labeling. Both qualify.

It's always worth checking with your FFL first.
