That would have been just after the Gilda Radner/John Belushi days. The cast at the time was stellar, but it has been pretty sad since.

The earlier actors used to be able to pull of their sketches without cue cards... they either memorized their lines, or they ad-libbed it.
Now it's just pathetic to see them looking beyond the camera and reading the lines...

While the gun handling was appalling, I kind of find that skit encouraging. They are capitulating.

Really, BassoMatic , Samurai Tailor, and Fred Garvin were what , well heeled adult humor? The show hasn't changed, you guys got bitter or old. lol

As far as being a "mouth-breather" because I watch the show, Khromo must be a friggen MENSA certified genius to make a statement like that.

It's no less childish and irreverent than before when our parents said it was juvenile. There is also the same Liberal smug New York attitude that's always been there. That being said, they do poke fun at everything including Liberals and smug New Yorkers.

Given that Schumer's uncle is Chuckie and that she made a big deal about the shooting at a theatre that happened to be showing her movie, I actually expected an over-the-top dose of Liberal skunking.

The skit was funny and made me laugh. If I was watching it thinking that Liberal people were sub-human conspirators incapable of being "just funny" like some of you guys do, than obviously, nothing is funny.

I do not watch the show. I was looking at some youtube videos on guns, and that video was listed on the side. Since it had guns in the title, I decided to watch. I actually thought it was dumb. I just wanted to let people know what kind of gun propaganda was being pushed by SNL.

^^^SNL has been on the air since 1975. As of today, that is 40 years. How many of those years have you actually watched it?

Based on your previous post, I am guessing not very many.

I have been watching since the late 70's and I can tell you it has changed A LOT.

The early cast members were people like John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Steve Martin, Lorraine Newman, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, etc. etc. The current cast members cannot hold a candle to any of them.

SNL has a bad habit of stretching skits much longer than they need too be. They quit being funny about halfway in. This is probably the biggest reason I quit watching.

I thought the sketch was kind of a little funny, even though it was clearly intended to poke fun at people who like guns. If you can't laugh at yourself every once in a while, you gotta lighten up. Considering it was Amy Schumer, it could have been a lot worse.
