Challenge on social media - find stories of responsible gun owners

Need some help crowd sourcing stories here. Friend of mine posted something about the woman with a CCW who opened fire on the shoplifter at home depot and made some usual comments along with his extremely anti-gun friend.

Those responsible gun owners are abhorred by the fact that this woman's actions give me license to say this: right up until this woman pulled out her gun and began playing Dirty Harry, she was a responsible gun owner. She had taken classes, understood gun safety, was issued a permit, and presumably had done the other things required of her in her state to get a license to carry a concealed firearm. She was the quintessential responsible gun owner. And she is no different than any other responsible gun owner who, in an adrenaline-filled moment of fear and heroics pulls a gun and starts firing indiscriminately into a crowd to stop a shoplifter. One could almost hear her commenting to her partner, "if I had been on that damn train in France, that sucker would've been shot dead."
My reply, and the subsequent challenge that I could use some help with:

On the other hand, one example that makes the news compared to dozens that don't...or at least make the news but don't get spread around because they're not as inciting...well...

Find these examples for us, and show that they occur at a greater rate than gun-related incidents that are caused due to irresponsible gun owners.
I know I'll never shut him up, as this is the same guy who a while back posted about how despite being a combat medic, despite being mugged at gunpoint, despite having walked through the worst areas of certain cities at night, he still couldn't see any reason anyone would feel the need to carry a gun. But I'd like to take his challenge for the sake of compiling the data so that instead of constantly being on the defensive we have some verbal ammunition to take the offensive back.

Also, while I'm familiar with (I think it was him) Paladin's list in his sig, I want some recent stuff - ideally something that happened since the Oregon shooting, but either way the more recent the better (since they're touting statistics of all the "mass shootings" nationwide where 4 or more people were shot).
