There are no problems, only solutions...

Turn this one in to a money-maker! Offer to Duracoat all the other residents firearms for a small fee. Plus, they can bring you sandwhiches and coffee while you work!

What are you planning on doing?

IMO the only advantage of Duracoat over some other finishes (i.e. GunKote, Aluma-Hyde II, Norrells Moly Resin) is that Duracoat is very easy to use. You don't need to preheat, sandblast or cure the parts. However compared to some other finishes it is thicker, it's not as solvent resistance and it doesn't hold up as well as KG & Norrells.

The receiver on the left side has been refinished using Norrells Gray.

I honestly think there are better options than Duracoat. You might want to try John at the Gun Exchange. He will refinish any part you want.

If you decided to go the Duracoat route, just remember to use respirator with a chemical vapor cartridge with a P98 filter rating. After all you don't want get a chemical pneumonia.

BTW, Duracoat is just basically an industrial two part epoxy paint from Sherwin Williams (but more expensive).

I did my 1919 and FAL with it. Great stuff. When I finish my T&E I'll do something about the color on my tripod

Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.
