USSOCOM Issues Safety of Use Message for EOTech Enhanced Combat Optical Sights

USSOCOM issued this safety of use message related to EOTech holographic sights.

Over the past few weeks, three separate issues have come to our attention regarding EOTech's line of Holographic Weapon Sights (HWS). While we initiall ...

If you have an EOTech, have you noticed POA/POI shifts with temperature change and/or decreasing battery life with time?

I was planning to buy some sort of red dot sight, probably an EOTech, in the next year. Would you recommend purchasing one? If so why? If not why? And what other RDS would you recommend?

Oh that hurts.... I spent the $$ so I wouldn't have to worry about those things.

So a 4 MOA shift at -40 and 122. I doubt there will be much happening at either of those temps.

Also your ACOGs are off if they aren't mounted on a carry handle. Whoop Dee doooo

No the problem is the POA/POI can shift at those temps, and not shift back at normal temps

A vehicle interior during summer can reach 122 degrees no problem.

So yeah, it is a big whoop dee doo IMO.

That's how I see it. I'm not some elite operator in combat but I live in a town that see's 100 F plus during the summer pretty regular so I know my trunk gets a hell of a lot hotter. This matters. I payed top dollar for parallax free optics that are apparently not parallax free and the zero can move in average summer temps + or - 4MOA if stored in a vehicle. I may have to use my weapon to safe my life and This could hinder that. I'm just a little concerned.

This should be easy to test for those who live in those climates. Try it fellas and report back.

PS. I have no idea how EOTech and USSOCOM missed this in testing. Unless they've known about it for a long time and kept it on the DL.

Yep, it was 106' here just 3 weeks ago and my car definitely gets hot, easily in the 120's.

I'll either be selling mine or testing it, either way it's wasting my time and money. Thanks eotech.

Damn. I always wanted an eotech after I used one in the army, but kept finding screaming deals on aimpoints so bought them instead.
Now I'm kinda glad I wound up with the Aimpoints.
                    Too bad.

Well no issues so far with my two but if they go T.U. on me it's no big deal as I got them in trade for some items I got for free.

Sounds like some people haven't read this thread. Sticking with Aimpoint for now.

Did u read the entire article? "they noted between 4 and 6 MOA parallax error depending on temperature conditions". Also note adjustments are now "approximate" not exact.

While used as a range toy, it might not matter much, but some of us are MIL and LE where it does.
