I'm surprised the cops said it was ok to hold them at gun point, usually they strongly discourage any kind of proactive self defense maneuvers involving guns..

Hats off to the squatter though, if you're gonna' squat, why not squat in a 10,000 sq ft. mansion!

Police in my city would have said, "You're going to do what?"

Owner died 2013, it was watched over for a year by renters then sold in April for over the $1.1M Asking price for $1.389M. It's listed now with plans and permits for a 10,500 single story home and guest house on a 30,000sq.ft lot for $1.89M

Thanks to Local Law Enforcement for taking an active role in removing the squatters, contacting Building & Safety to get some action.

After the Police left I asked what I could have done, the officer said, "get a gun"
As soon as they opened I went into the local Turners Outdoorsman and bought a shotgun, went to The Firing Line to take a basic safety class and get my HSC. 10 day's later the shotgun and Glock 19 came home. I was hooked, and for the next 2 years I became a member of the "gun-a-month-club".

          Skip forward to last night...

Last night 3:47am I awoke to relieve myself and noticed the lights on in the vacant partially demolished property behind me. In the morning I looked over the fence and noticed towels hanging to dry.

I walked around the block and for safety I asked the foreman from the construction crew across the street from the house to accompany me before entering through the gate that was unlocked.

We found signs of at least 3 people living there, and some clothing, cigarettes, batteries, soap.

So...Up at 3:30 am leads me to think they are some Meth Head Tweakers.

I called the police and notified neighbors.

While on the phone with the Watch Commander, he asked if I was concerned for my safety, My reply was I was more concerned with the squatters safety should they breach the property line and end up on my property. I told him that IF they did breach the fence, I would hold them at gunpoint in a prone position until police arrived to take them away.

The Watch Commander's response was "Good, Just what I wanted to hear, if it happens call us and we'll be right over to pick them up".

Watch Commander will be sending over a special detail at 5:00am to roust the squatters and will notify the property owner of the breach and obligation to keep the property locked.
What department? Sounds like they take their misdemeanor trespassers quite seriously there.
