The husband of a friend of mine recently passed away. Because of questionable family members, she needs to get his guns out of the house ASAP. One in particular could bring her some money, so I was wanting to get her a rough estimate before she hastily gets rid of it for less than it's worth.
It is a Winchester model 94, manufactured 1949 according to the serial number. Caliber is .32 spcl. The wood is not cracked, has most of it's finish, but has significant shallow scratching along the back 1/2 of the butt stock on both sides. The finish is warn and thin the last 1/2 of the butt. The bluing actually looks good on the receiver, but it has a couple dime size rust spots along the outside of the barrel. There is no pitting in the bore, and the crown looks good.
Overall, the rifle looks like it saw a good amount if use, but didn't seem to be abused.
Any help with a value would be great. If I can afford it, I'd like to buy it, but most importantly I want to make sure she gets a good price for it, as she can really use the money. If it's too pricy for me, I'd like to help her find a buyer at at a fair price.
