    LC380/LC9 Conversion Kit...Worth it?

Turners is having a sale on the Ruger LC380 & LC9 Conversion Kit combo...

    LC380 - $429.99
    LC9 Conversion Kit $249.99
    TOTAL $680+ tax and DROS...

    Is it worth it?

I know nothing about those kits but I have a kit in my LC9 from Galloway Precision ( they have a website ) that shortens the trigger pull and gets rid of the overtravel. It also gets rid of the mag. safty and has lighter springs. Oh and it changes the plastic rod under the barrel to stainless. It costs about $150.00 and you install it yourself. I've been using mine for over a year and no issues at all. I believe I saw an LC9 from the factory that used this trigger and parts. It isn't as popular since they went to the LC9s striker fired version.

I know nothing about these other than to guess that Ruger has a lot of confidence in the LC380 frame.

I am amused however that the Turners email says these conversion kits will not be available at the Reseda store.

As far as I know these are not things you have to DROS they are just parts like grips and sights so the Los Angeles small gun ban doesn't apply.

^ Maybe they mean the LC380 pistol itself?
Then you could not buy the conversion kit as a package deal?

I sure do like multi-cal and swap top guns.
This set-up gives you the option of using two of the oldest, most popular cartridges made.
        Perfect for SHTF.
I'll have to get this set-up just because it's available.

Hmmm...if we ever (LOL) get CCW in Los Angeles, I wonder if this would have to be carried as a .380.

Not sure I can get past the $700 price tag for a LC9.
I havent looked but Im sure you could find a LC9 for a lot less.
If I already had a LC380, I might consider it but I dont think ill be buying both ..... at the same time.

I believe the LC380 is built on the LC9 frame.

This provides a way for a CA resident to get a no longer on the roster LC9.

I would be more interested in a .22 conversion.

So wait, if theoretically speaking, I have an LC9, I can get a conversion kit to make it .380?
                Sorry, not sorry.

Ruger uses the same frame for the LC9 and LC380.

LC380 has a weaker recoil spring than the LC9, which makes it easier to the rack slide for people with weak arm strength (elderly, young, weaklings, etc).

Twisted Industries does make a 22lr conversion kit for $200.

I changed out the plastic guide rod for the Galloway stainless rod. My daughter came back from the range with the slide seized to the frame. I called Ruger who suggested I smack it with a mallet. I asked if I could send it in. It was back in a couple days with the stainless rod removed and replaced with a plastic rod. I never did find out what was up with the slide.

Why didn't you just smack it with the mallet. Worst case if it didn't work, Ruger would still have paid the shipping to work on the pistol. That way you wouldn't have been out the price of the guide rod.

Word to the wise....NEVER send in a weapon for warranty work with aftermarket parts still on it.

                          Interesting, thanks.

Had I known about this I might not have passed on buying an LC9 on the LAST day you could in CA.

Gun control is a 1" group at 500 yds!

No way! While I applaud ruger for trying to make a way around the roster, 700 is steep for an lc9 that you can buy used but LNIB for 350 almost all day long... Even for the 350$ original price tag most people don't like them. The trigger is horrible and takes quite a bit of practice to get proficient... The guns are very dependable but otherwise not much to write home about...

Now if the conversion slide somehow made it a lc9s they might have something!
