question about the M&P 9mm

I have the M&P 9mm and I am having issues with this pistol. I'm having targeting acquisition problem. basically I suck. When I shoot my friends Glock 19, I can hit 1 inch groups. So I think I'm probably going to get rid of it to get the Glock 19. Can someone direct me as to how to price my M&P 9mm? I have only had it for a year with at least 400 rounds.
I hope this is the correct channel for me to ask. If not, my apologies. I don't want to get flamed for it.

Can't help you on M&P prices as I have no idea of that.

BUT, is your front sight loose? Try shooting it from a rest. Does it shoot straight?
If not, send it in to S&W; in the past, my experiences with firearm manufacturers have been that they would send you a pre-paid shipping label so this whole process will be free for you.

Or maybe the Glock 19 just fits better, but you should at least check your M&P from rest.

OP - Have a range master at whatever range you go and have them shoot it. They should be able to identify or at least really narrow down the problem. How many inch group is it when you shoot the M&P? Is it just scattered or is it consistently high, low, right, left? Where are you located? I can help test it if by chance you go to my range.

I had a M&P where the trigger break was far too hard and jerked the pistol every time. This pistol was one of S&W's bad batches when they were having quality issues. Never had any trigger that was as bad as this was in my 20 years of shooting different pistols. I resolved the problem by installing the Apex trigger system and now has a better trigger than most of my pistols.

One needs to make sure there is a problem with the handgun. If so you won't get many offers trying to buy it if in fact there is something wrong with it. If not, they usually go anywhere from $450.00 up to $600.00 depending.

This. There were a bunch of bad M&P 9mm barrels until about a year ago.

The M&P 9 is off roster so $550 to $600 is an easy answer.
Mine had a semi loose rear sight that haunted me a bit.
There are aftermarket trigger kits (apex) that make it way better.
I've kinda decided I'm not selling anything off roster myself based on this state's direction it seems to be headed for.
I'd hang in there and take the good advice of others here and have a more experienced shooter check it out.

That was only 2005-2007 models. S&W has been fixing those free of charge ever since. Mine was one of them.

I would have an experienced shooter shoot it first. If he/she is also having accuracy problems then you know its the gun. My friend had an XD .40 he could not shoot for crap. He kept blaming the gun. I went to the range with him and the gun shot amazing for me. 9 out of 10 its the shooter, not the gun.

Sounds like the Glock just fits you better and points more naturally for you. The M&P is off roster I believe, so check the market place to see what they are going for.

Like others have said, have a couple others shoot the M&P. Also double check that the trigger on the Glock is stock. I'm wondering if your buddy's gun has had a trigger job? If it has, that may be why you shoot it better. Most people find a lighter trigger easier to shoot. And buying a stock Glock may not be the solution. Improving the trigger on the M&P or Glock could help some. But it also means you could benefit with improving your trigger control in general.

Most of time when a firearm shoots oddly or off, it's not the firearm. I own a M&P9 and a G19, the g19 was easier to shoot at the beginning but after learning what the hell i was doing i came to love and carry my M&P daily...

I have both and shoot my Glock 19 much better. I think the M&P trigger just isn't for me. Like you, I've shot several hundred rounds through the M&P but haven't mastered it yet. I'm planning on getting an APEX trigger to see if that changes. If it doesn't, maybe I'll buy another 19 with the proceeds of selling my M&P!! Practice, practice, practice.
